> > > > > I just got c&c generals and i installd it and updated video card turnd off anti virus and for some reason in the middle or beginning of games it locks up on me, any one know y?
> > > > I'm gonna try to offer some help here... I'm a computer tech. and this freeze up issue is a tough one to crack with many programs. I have found that increasing the amount of RAM your computer contains stops many freeze ups, also a new computer may do the trick, lol. C&C Generals is a newer game and requires that your system meet the minimum requirements listed on the box it came in. If you meet or exceed the requirements then you should be able to fix your problem. A freeze up occurs when a bottleneck takes place at the processer. Check to see that no other programs are running at the same time you are playing, because if the other program is set to refresh itself or save info etc it will automatically request processer access and will interrupt the flow of data being used by your game. If you are using XP home try updating it using the auto update program. There is a virus out called mslaugh.exe, check to see that your computer hasn't picked this up cause freeze ups are common with this virus. good luck
> > > Yeah, we had to replace the video card to get the graphics to work right, but when we did thats when it started freezing, it happnes randomly i guess, before the game starts or in the middle of it.
> > O yeah and we have done the update thing, took off anti virus before i play it cause it says in booklet, what other programs running could cause this, it doesnt freeze on me for YR or RA2?
> Programs that could be running; Outlook Express, Maintenance Wizard, Disk cleanup, spam that may have downloaded itself from a site you visited, File Sharing software, Real Player & Jukebox, and several others.
> You say that you had to change the video card, does that mean you are running an older computer (by older I mean year 2001 or below) and the old card was not compatible? If so you may also need to upgrade your ram and processer if possible. RA2 and YR require lower ram and processer speed than generals and would be less apt to freeze on you while playing.
> My neighbor plays generals and he runs a computer with 256 mb ram and a 2.0 ghz processer. he says that the game really uses a lot of resources and will sometimes slow down quite a bit.
> Questions; What is your processer speed and how much ram does your computer have?
well acording to my dad, it has enough ram, the video card is good enough and it has enough memory.
