The only voxels that seem to shade correctly in the game are ones that the normals (according to Will's editor and VXLSE)look like a rainbow and don't seem to have any discernable pattern. Using AutoNormals turns them all a shade of pink and does not seem to help.

those programs both based on Will Sutton's work are designed to only view Tiberian Sun normals properly which use numbers up to 35 basically while Red Alert 2 normals numbers go up much higher to around 240. only the first 35 numbers use a shade of pink while higher numbers use random colors. it's basically because of a missing feature that you see all these random or what you call rainbow colors.

i think i can see a pattern to Tiberian Sun type normals that most voxel artists try to use however i've been trying to only be concerned with Red Alert2 style normals that i believe should yield much better quality visuals if used correctly. i metioned in the Autonormals post by Godwin what i think the Tiberian Sun pattern is.
