I had problems with XCC Mixer since 1.22 in my windows 98 se. I've made some tests with XCC Mixer 1.40 and now it's kinda worse as the shift trick doesnt work here. I decided to do some hard test to get the problematic files away from XCC path. The results were interesting.
The first file to crash is gmenu.mix from Tiberian Sun.
Operation 1) Moved gmenu.mix away from my TS dir.
Result: It crashed on scores01.mix.
Operation 2) Moved scores01.mix away from my TS dir.
Result: It crashed on wdtvox.mix
Operation 3) Moved wdtvox.mix away from my TS dir.
Result: It crashed on multi.mix
Operation 4) Moved multi.mix away from my TS dir.
Result: TS and RA2 mix files loaded. Generals big files loaded. Zero Hour (Brazilian) big files were loading until it crashes on patchzh.big.
Operation 5) Moved patchzh.big away from my Zero Hour dir.
Result: It crashed on WindowZH.big.
Operation 6) Moved WindowZH.big away from my Zero Hour dir.
Result: XCC Mixer 1.40 loaded fine.
I guess we can get some conclusions here. There must be some kind of coincidence that makes these files crash here... Maybe some problem on reading specific headers or some pointer thing... you should try debugging these files to find out something abnormal on it. Good luck!
