Nox servers do not require too much bandwidth or processing to run. I can host 2 dedicated servers on my 1.75 ghtz 512 ram amd with a 4000kbs download and 412kbs upload at a time without any latency changes at all with > 20 players in each. The main problem is of course that the game slows down for high latency players as it sends updates constantly and thus has huge ammounts of packets per second (it does no future tracking whatsoever to in game objects to project their likly trajectory).
I'm planning on setting up a bare bones hosting program for the game in the future when the packets and game communications are fully figured out. However that is a long time away as we only have as far as logging in a false player and a few movments and speech and data tracking packets done.
Considering what you have done for NoX allready, however, I do not feel that asking you to run a 24/7 server is needfull as the players do a good job of supporting the server base as it is. Of course we could also set up our own server.
Thank you for the WOL hosting though Olaf, you do us all a great favor by accepting Nox alongside the C&C series. Most of us play C&C as well and it would be a shame to seperate two of the greatest acheivements ever to be produced by WW.
