AOL-Time-Warner is a massive conglomerate, with all the same concerns in the geek community over monopoly that Microsoft attracts.

bound to be political, or maybe the fact that there aren't so many MSN users migrating to Jabber, they just haven't noticed yet.
AOL is under legal pressure to make its instant messaging tools interoperate with the competition (IIRC), so it choose to all groupwise or something to access it. Clearly not a massive userbase!
