Maybe you should read books before thinking like that. There is a good reason why it's done that way.

> there was time before i used bank switching when i was only able to use one bank and so was only able to use something like 34 rows of pixels and i had to check whether my graphic engine was working by making bmp screenshots and loading up windows 3.1 and looking at them in mspaint. i had to crack the bmp format myself coz in those days i didn't have any internet.
