> MS3D is a good alternative though to 3d studio and lightwave. Its shareware though (however cracks are easily found) and is a good utility for converting models from differnt games like say a HL mdl to 3ds format and then use 3ds2vxl to convert that again to voxel.

are you talking about milkshape 3d? it's not free, it's cheap though. how much is it?
