Some people just aren't gifted with the intelligence needed to mod, so that could be why you don't understand the tutorials (not trying to be nasty, its just a fact of life). To edit existing units all you have to do is extract rules.ini, open it in wordpad and edit the section that deals with the unit you want to modify. Its THAT easy that I taught myself much of what I know by looking through the file and comparing stuff to each other as well as reading the included instructions.
