That sounds mighty fruity but it just might work, will the game support a brand new ini for the new theater? And, if i use existing breeds of the template file (like .des) will those argue the theaters that are already in the game?
Creating my own sort of .tmp file is not an option (even with supporting new files it won't identify that say a .fft file - an example of what a fictitious addition to the list might be - is a .tmp file for the new theater) so I have to use the existing sorts, like good ol' .des.
I'll try to come up with a new bunch of .mix's and an ini to support the new .des data, let's see if first "it will be read" and second "it won't simply replace the existing .des based Desert theater". I hope this works.
And how did westwood add .ubn and .lun files to the list of what are to be considered .tmp files? there is no ini supporting that sort of data! (I'll give you five bucks if you can tell me which one if there is - I've been though all the inis up and down, searching the entirety of all the mixes in the ra2 dir) The new urban ini doesn't give that sort of data to the game! nor does the lunar.ini!
I must say it looks bleak, I may have to simply replace the Desert theater with my new one.
Strange to say this, but FA2 YR seems to have been programmed only to search for certain things, the original FA2 could find the desert data if you renamed the ra2md.mix "ra2.mix". That's only because the .des stuff was used in tibsun and fa2 was all copy paste from final sun. The .lun and .ubn stuff couldn't be tricked into it like that, though (poor guy actually had to make a new version to support them). So it's pretty clear to see that FA2 YR won't support what I'm doing.
PS Do you really think I'd be asking these questions if i didn't already use the tmp editor you made?
