Ok...
Open xcc mixer, goto 'View' menu at the top,select pallette, then select your choice: Auto, Auto Select, or choose one manually.
Here are the palletes you use most often:
Anim for conquer.mix animations
Cameo for cameos
Dont remember the one for infantry (conquer.mix)...
