yeah i would suggest whenever you want to test the normals that you lay them all out on a flat rectangle shaped slab voxel like a map of the globe on paper. as you rotate it in the game you should see a clean light spot moving back and forth along this voxel slab.
i already did this once along time ago and put all the normals in order so you can see exactly how scrambled up they are. i sent it to Olaf. where did you put it Olaf? it was kind of big though. maybe he didn't have space to put it up on his website.
