trouble with new technology is that the technology is available long before it is commercially available.

mast seems great, as long as there are enough nearby subscribers.

here in scandinavia, many modern housing blocks have built-in lan, sometimes 100mbit. The link from the block to the outside world is usually much smaller, but if you are doing you thing at antisocial hours, you can get a bigger pipe out than the servers you hail have, which means a lot of it is wasted.

remember, the max capacity of these systems is actually the lowest capacity of any link in the chain between you and the server, so a big pipe out is often surplus

any fixed connection is great, even if it is only 245k or something. Actually, much faster is not very noticeable unless you are a divx freak..

(thoughts about a new system that downloads segments of a file from different mirrors so as to do so simultaineously spring up in my mind)
