.map files.. anyone know how to extract info? | quicksilv | 23:08 19-03-2003 | | |
Hiya.
Does anyone (or Olaf) know how the .map files are structured yet? I would like to extract the number of players and possibly other interesting things. Unfortunatly i've already hit rock bottom on it
problems are: i think .map files use compression and i can't figure out what they are using.
Also, i was hoping that the .map files would store a preview of the map inside themselfes but i guess this is not the case (a .tga is normally also supplied by the worldbuilder).
I would like to know the number of players, because a lot of website don't show this info for the maps they carry.. The preview pics they use are the ones withouth the player locations (well most websites anyway). Some people have preview pics WITH the playerlocations, is there a tool for this? or did the make screengrabs from within the generals game lobby? (or draw those spots on their preview picture with a paint program?)
anyway, does anyone know something about the .map structure or can someone tell me wether the .map files use the same compression as the .big files (if they use compression there?)
