The HVAeditors viewer is easily the best voxel viewer available and HVAedit itself contains the full library. I seem to recall him offering them. I have his source code that he sent me to pass on to someone on the WW boards who was looking into writing a new voxel editor.

you should write my nick as ViPr and not ViPR because people will confuse it with VPR who is someone else.

don't you think it would be possible and better for artists to make everything in a 3d polygon editor including animations and then once they are completely finished just use a converter to make the vxl and hva files.

i have no interest in making a voxel editor because voxels are going to be obsolete soon. it would also be very time consuming to make. A converter would be easier i believe. also i don't know any windows programming or even c++, so such a program would be especially hard for me.

i like the idea that after people put the effort into making a voxel they have a bonus polygon version of their work which they can use in other games. since voxels cannot be converted to polygons i believe people should be encouraged to build their creations as polygons first and convert to voxels after. i like to help immortalize the work that artists do.

would it help everyone significantly if i made my converter able to output voxels with multiple sections at least? i have really no idea how multiple sections in vxl files work or anything about hva files, or how animations work in 3ds files or in the C&C games themselves. are there people who can help explain all these things to me just like Olaf explained vxl files to me? please no source code.

btw haydn did you read my last post while we were talking about not using texture data from 3d files? i asked if i could use all your 3ds models for testing my program.
